Ooooh...This
picture to the right is Bibimbap. It consists of vegetables over rice in a hot
metal bowl which fries the rice while it's in there. As you can see to the right
of the bowl, adding meat is also an option. There's also kim chee and other
things in the background as well. I should have taken a picture of one my Korean
barbecue nights, but I didn't and I'm kicking myself for it now. For Korean
barbecue, there's a grill in the middle of the table that you cook meat and
some vegetables on. In addition to the meat and vegetables, there is also meat
sauce, pickled vegetables, and other lettuce. You have to use the lettuce as
a wrap and put the meat, vegetables, rice, etc inside the lettuce and then eat
it. IT'S REALLY REALLY GOOD! One of these restaurants didn't let me inside because
I said English and she gave me a hand gesture to go away. It was a little disheartening,
but I moved on and had the courage to go into another restaurant which was very
nice to me. Like an idiot though, I didn't know what I was doing and didn't
know that you had to use the lettuce as a wrap. The waitress helped me cook
everything and showed me how to put the food inside the lettuce to eat. I went
back to the same restaurant the next night with the two other NOVA teachers
I met from my DMZ tour and the waitress literally fed us by hand. She wrapped
our food, told us to open our mouths, and shoved the lettuce wrap inside!.It
was so funny, but I didn't have my camera to capture the moment. The outdoor
food stalls were really good and there's a lot of varety too.
Here's
me getting ready to eat my bibimbap! Did I mention that it's really good?
This
is a picture of Morimoto-san. I met him at one of the palaces I was visiting
and he treated me out to this lunch.
Meat
on a stick from one of the outdoor food stalls.
This
woman is cooking up fat rice noodles in a chilli sauce. It was probably the
hottest thing I ate while I was in Korea. I had to run for water after eating
it.
To
the left is a picture of a person making an egg sandwhich for me. It's not really
korean, but it was really good for a cheap breakfast while I was walking around!
