I haven't been anywhere recently but the weather's starting to get better and I'm leaving the house more. If anyone can actually believe it, I'm starting to jog a little bit to get into shape. I'm tired of huffing and puffing after walking up a flight of stairs because I'm lazy.haha. Anyway this is a short update. This past month was valentines day in Japan and it's not really like V-day in the states. In Japan only girls give chocolates to guys and I guess the trend nowadays is to give out homemade chocolates. It's not like back home where it's a couple kind of thing, people go out to restaurants and guys give either flowers or roses. Here girls give chocolates not only to guys they like, but also to friends, and co-workers. I think I was comoplaining about how I wouldn't get chocolates one night and Natasha (you can see her in my nagasaki pictures) gave me a box. She was so kind! And the ingenius thing about V-day is that there is a reciprical day on March 14 called "white day" where guys give chocolates or sweets to girls. I think the popular thing on white day is to give marshmellows. It's commercialism at it's best huh? Anyway I do plan to travel in March and I'm going to Tokyo with my friend Charles for 4 days starting on the 23rd and then coming back on the 26. It's going to be FUUUUUUN. Esepcially since Charles has mad japanese speaking skillz so it'll make the trip a lot easier. Cashiers always look at me when we're together even though he's speaking perfect Japanese. hahaha. Ok but that's all for now, I've been mostly eating and getting fat, hence the reason for excercise! Expect another update at the end of March, maybe earlier if I decide to be efficient for some odd reason. =)
This is a Yatai that my friend Jon and I went to the other day. A Yatai is an outdoor street stall that sells famous Hakata Ramen, and other kinds of foods. You can see my ramen bowl in front of me and it was SOOOO GOOOOOD. This is a picture of Jon, me, and two girls we met from Osaka named Tomoko and Chieko (respectively from left to right). The Yatai owner was really nice and kind to us. Yatai atmosphere is just friendly and very easy going.
